About Us
The Mission of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) is to prepare globally-minded, community-focused osteopathic physicians to meet the needs of rural and medically underserved populations and advance research to improve human health.
VCOM is one college with four campuses across the Southeastern United States and is one of the largest medical schools in the country. Despite its size, VCOM maintains a nurturing, small-private-college feel for our students. VCOM-Louisiana’s inaugural class graduated on May 10, 2024, and achieved a 100% residency match rate, and was the first graduating class from an osteopathic medical school in Louisiana’s history! Since then, two additional classes have graduated. The Class of 2025 also achieved a 100% residency match rate, and the Class of 2026 attained a 99% match rate. 61% of 2026 graduates entered primary care specialties, with strong residency placements throughout Louisiana, Texas, and Florida.
